It also gives us the verb <\/span>scotcher<\/span><\/i>, which basically means to stick two things together, using tape. It is a synonym for the verb <\/span>coller<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

And in a figurative sense, \u00eatre scotch\u00e9<\/em> can refer to being too attached to something. For example, if your children cannot tear themselves away from the TV, you might say <\/span>Les enfants sont scotch\u00e9s devant la t\u00e9l\u00e9 <\/span><\/i>(the kids are glued to the telly).<\/span><\/p>\n

There are a few other words in French that come from the brand name originally. <\/span>For example, the verb klaxonner – which means to beep your horn while driving – comes from the company Klaxon, which was an automotive equipment manufacturer.<\/span><\/p>\n
